Current Opportunity: EAP Counsellor (On-site)

Location: Kitimat, British Columbia, Canada
On-site/Hybrid/Remote: On-site for 14 days and off-site for 14 days with travel in and out including lodging and meals included
Salary: $120,000 - $130,000 CAD 

Workplace Options is seeking an EAP Counsellor to deliver vital mental health support on-site in Kitimat, British Columbia. This is a full-time role where you'll provide direct services onsite in accordance with the company's needs, serving as an integral part of their Employee Assistance Programme. Your responsibilities will include conducting psychosocial assessments, managing clinical cases, and devising group trainings or activities aimed at enhancing mental wellbeing in the workplace.

Responsibilities:
  • Provides an integrated EAP service consisting of intake and assessment, support, triage, referral, clinical case management and crisis management.
  • Delivers counselling services in a responsive, efficient, ethical, and professional manner.  Maintaining client confidentiality as expected by ethical standards.
  • Adheres to the applicable ethical, therapeutic, and legal standards, which govern service delivery, as well as policies, procedures, and laws, which apply to the organization as appropriate.
  • Refers clients to appropriate resources and thoroughly maintains clinical documentation in computerized system for follow-up regarding clinical and work-life services.
  • Assessments completed with clients expressing various issues e.g., substance abuse, mental health, and family concerns that may be impacting work performance.
  • Performs initial assessment/intake, crisis intervention, information and referral, and counselling services to clients. Completes timely follow-up calls to clients where necessary.
  • Maintains clinical documentation in computerized system.
  • Undertakes additional tasks as identified by the clinical management team.
  • Facilitate trainings, conduct, and participate in orientation. Develop and implement strategic activities for the organization.
  • Onsite for 14 days and off-site for 14 days with travel in and out including lodging and meals included.
The aforementioned duties do not encompass all responsibilities associated with the role. The appointed candidate will be required to undertake additional tasks pertinent to the position, as deemed appropriate and requested by their direct supervisors.

Qualifications: 
  • Master’s degree or diploma in social work, psychology, counselling, or related field.
  • At least two years directly related experience providing counselling or mental health services.
  • Licensure or clinical certification preferred.
  • Trauma experience is valued.
  • This is a once-in-a lifetime experience to travel and work in beautiful British Columbia!
Travel to the site is relatively easy, the client provides chartered flights directly to the camp from several locations in Canada. Living accommodations are provided at Kitimat Cedar Valley Lodge a brand-new worker accommodation center. The lodge includes single rooms with private bathrooms. There are a wide array of amenities and services at the Lodge.  The facility includes on site health care, highspeed internet, expansive dining options, a full range of leisure and recreational opportunities.
