Current Position: Accessibility Engineer
What you will do:
Workplace Options (WPO) are seeking a Accessibility Engineer with strong expertise in web development and accessibility testing. You will design and implement accessible solutions using PHP and Vue.js, ensure compliance with accessibility standards, and champion inclusive design across projects.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain web applications using PHP and Vue.js with a focus on accessibility.
- Perform comprehensive accessibility audits and testing (manual and automated) to Ensure compliance with accessibility standards such as WCAG 2.1 / 2.2 and Section 508 standards.
- Conduct detailed accessibility assessments of web applications (Angular, React) and mobile applications (React Native – iOS & Android).
- Collaborate with UI/UX designers, developers, and QA teams to implement accessibility best practices
- Identify, troubleshoot, recommend improvements and fix accessibility issues across web platforms
- Integrate accessibility into CI/CD pipelines and development workflows
- Provide guidance and mentorship to teams on accessibility standards and implementation
- Stay updated with the latest accessibility trends, tools, and regulations
- Evaluate user experiences for people with diverse disabilities, including visual, auditory, motor, and cognitive impairments.
- Identify accessibility gaps related to keyboard navigation, focus management, screen reader interaction, visual contrast, form behavior, and dynamic content.
Required Skills/Experience:
- 4–8 years of experience in web development and accessibility engineering
- Strong hands-on experience with PHP and modern JavaScript frameworks (Vue.js, HTML5, CSS3)
- In-depth knowledge of web accessibility standards (WCAG, ARIA, semantic HTML, Section 508)
- Experience with accessibility testing tools such as Axe, Lighthouse, NVDA, JAWS, or VoiceOver
- Strong understanding of semantic HTML, CSS, and responsive design
- Experience in manual accessibility testing and assistive technologies
- Familiarity with browser developer tools and debugging techniques
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills in Agile/Scrum teams.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and exposure to cloud platforms (Azure/AWS/GCP).
- Knowledge of accessibility in mobile or cross-platform applications
- Certifications in accessibility (e.g., CPACC, WAS)
- Experience integrating accessibility into design systems
- Experience with automated accessibility testing frameworks.
- Knowledge of performance optimization and security best practices.
