Current Opportunity: EAP Counsellor

Location: Ireland
Full-time/Part-time: Full-time (40 hours per week)
Salary: €35,200 - €38,720 plus competitive benefits offering
Onsite/Hybrid/Remote: Hybrid in our Dublin office and can also be Remote

What you will do:

Our EAP Counsellors engage with participants over the phone, video, chat & email all while demonstrating what we call: The Power of a Good Conversation – creating a connection with the client to ensure they feel heard, supported, and cared for.

It’s difficult to define an “average day” for our counsellors, as every caller brings a unique set of experiences and challenges. Through thoughtful clinical conversations, our counsellors support each individual in exploring their situation and finding a path forward. If you are a mental health provider that wants to provide emotional support with a warm and empathic approach to people of all ages, cultures, and backgrounds from around the world, this is the role for you.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide single session telephonic and video counselling, in-the-moment support and crisis telephonic management in a supportive, ethical and professional manner while maintaining client-confidentiality.
  • Assess clients thoroughly to ensure appropriateness for short-term counselling.
  • Assess and manage high risk calls and working closely with individuals at risk.
  • Appropriately refer clients to external resources or within WPO as part of our holistic approach.
  • Maintain clear clinical and task-oriented documentation in case management system.
  • Deliver comprehensive administrative support, acting as a key point of contact to assist clients and providers with service-related enquiries and issue resolution.
  • Any additional tasks pertinent to the position, as deemed appropriate by management.

Qualifications/Skills:

To excel in this role, you will need the following qualifications and skills:
  • Proven experience using solution‑focused counselling approaches in clinical or support settings.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting clients in high‑risk situations, including crisis intervention.
  • Strong risk assessment, safeguarding, and safety‑planning skills are essential.
  • Excellent IT and administrative competencies, with the ability to accurately manage client records and case management systems.
  • Experience working within a service centre or similarly structured environment is desirable.
  • A strong customer service background is an advantage.
  • Previous experience within organisations with listening, counselling, or emotional support services is highly desirable.
